Preliminary task evaluation
We filmed our first take of the short film we planned and edited it. After we completed this we had a review along with the rest of the class. We saw ourselves when editing that the quality was unusually low. After the feedback we decided the best thing to do was to re-film.

The re-film was filmed with a different camera this improved the quality of the footage immensely. The editing was done and we got it looked at by our teacher. Luckily for us the film was good and so was the quality and all of the brief demands were fulfilled. This meant that we could move on to our actual coursework piece. I am very excited and look forward to planning and filming this in the near future. I will be sharing progress made on here as often as possible.

Preliminary story boards

When we got to the planning stage for the preliminary task we started plotting and managed to come up with ideas.

As you can see we created a storyboard. This included 14 shots in total.  The reason we did this was to establish what we aimed to film and put into out short film.

Each separate box within the storyboard had a rough drawing of the shot, sound that would be included, which type of sound it was (diegetic or non-diegetic), camera angle and how long the shot would last.

The next stage is to film, I will be uploading the short film soon.

Preliminary task

For my preliminary task I was given a brief, this included making a short film. The film had to include a shot-reverse-shot and a match on action shot.I  was put into my coursework group with two others from my class (Holly Cook and Emily Kelly).

On the 10th of October we had to start storyboarding for our short films. Firstly we discussed what genre we were going to do and swiftly came to the conclusion that the genre we were going for was horror. The reason for this decision was that we felt it enabled us to achieve what we wanted via signifiers.

We started storyboarding and made 12 boxes which included what the shot will include, how long it is, any dialogue, non-diegetic sound, type of shot and the shot number.

The plot of the film was that a girl is followed by another, into a room. When girl 2 enters the room it appears girl 1 has disappeared. Girl 2 discovers a boy tied up. She releases him and asks 'who did this to you' before he has the chance to answer girl 1 takes girl 2. Girl 2 also gets tied up. It fades out into a black shot and we decided this was the best place to leave it to gather suspense and enigma.
